Wireless Verizon Fios won't stay connected.
I've updated my computer, checked all drivers to be up to date, and connected to other wireless internet routers. But when I am at home the new FiOS router just keeps connecting and disconnected. I am unable to stay connected to other people who have FiOS wireless internet. However, I can connect and stay connected to any other wireless network. Internet will stay connected if I plug in an ethernet cable. My girlfriend's old computer works fine with FiOS however it would occationally disconnect. I just brushed off my problem as a Vista compatability issue until my girlfriend got a new Vista computer and I'm left here with a on again off again connection. What can I do to fix this? My computer is a Acer Aspire 5100 laptop with a AMD Turion 64x2 processor 2GB ram and a Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter.

Hi, Based on your description, the wireless network adapter does not have issues, because it works properly when you access other Internet connections. The most possible cause is the router that may be damaged, or the incompatibility between the router and the wireless network adapter. Other possible causes are the installed firewall/anti-virus that block the connection to the FiOS router, and some incorrect router settings. I suggest that you disable the anti-virus and firewall on all of the problematic computers. Does the issue persist? If the issue still occurs, it can be caused by some incorrect settings in network protocol and the router. Please click Start, in the Start Search box type "ncpa.cpl" and press Enter. In the opened window, right-click the connection for the PiOS router, choose "Properties". Double-click "Internet Protocol Version 4", make sure that IP address and DNS are obtained automatically. Also, please check the router settings according to the instruction of the router. If the above information does not help. Please contact Verizon support, and check hardware wellness of the router. Hope the above information is helpful.
