Wireless Networking?
Good morning all, First off I am not a networking guy in any shape or form. I have a simple peer to peer network setup at home. At least it was simple. Pc1: Main desktop is hardwired to router. A Linksys EA4200 All my other PCs, 2 laptops and another desktop, are wireless linked. About a week a go PC2, gateway netbook, lossed connection to the network. Network shows up in the list of connections available. When it does connect it allows no internet access. And when it does it will drop and reconnect randomly all night. Strenght of connection is marked as excellent 150mbs. Desn't matter if I use the internal card or a USB Linksys drive. Same thing happens. Then PC3, HP laptop, started doing the same thing a few days later. And then the PC4, Dell desktop, did this. I have tried everything I can think of. Different cards, internal and external. Reboots and cold boots. I have un-installed the last months updates. Nothing seems to help. I have even completely redone the PC2. With a clean install of windows after reformatting the HHD. I get no error msgs. Windows network diagnostics tells me it hasn't a clue. The connection will work some times all night and then suddenly stop. And then other times it just wont work at all. But in all cases it sees the network running. When it does connect it will say No internet access. And also wont let u access the shared drives on the network. The one thing I have done with one of the PCs is given it a assigned IP address. And it is currently connected. But I haven't rebooted it. :( afraid too. Anyone out there have any ideas? All PCs run Windows 7 Sp1 64bit. And all are up to date with the latest patches via Windows Update. Thanks Deasun

Have you try changing to a different channel on the router? Care to share the wep key is set to wpa or wep? I suggest you to use dhcp instead of using staic IP as in assigned IP address for the laptop Just a thought, does this problem occurs after you update windows? Majority linksys router comes with latest firmware, you might want to consider updating the firmware, if you have problem updating it, contact linksys tech support, they would be obliged to help you regarding the step of updating the firmware Lastly you might want to get a repeater or wireless acess point to improve or extend the signal of the wireless -

Hi, Thanks for the post. Please try the suggestion of Dannie. Also, can you ping to the Router (in other words, the gateway)? If the issue still persist, please run the IPCONFIG/all in Command Prompt, then post the result back. Regards, Juke TechNet Subscriber support in form.
