Wireless Network down on Vista
I have Vista on a HP latop, it does have a switch on the front and the switch [is] in the [on] position. I turned my laptop off, and when I turned it back on no networks, the light in showing my adapter is off. The system says my network adapter is not installed and configured. When I go to the driver, it says everything is working. This came after I downloaded a system stat software from "http://www.xymantix.com/sysmetrix/index.html"...and removed it. This is the only thing that changed before this problem. Afterwards I saved my data and reformated my hard drive back to the original factory condition......still no network. While loading I noticed a quick command line window that was never there before, I noticed three cap letters in the prompt. Please help.

Hi, Thank you for your post. Based on the post, I understand that the system indicates the network adapter is not installed and configured after you installed and removed a system stat software. The issue persists after you reformatted the hard drive back to the original factory condition. Firstly, I would like to confirm the following information with you: 1. Did you reinstall (format the system drive and clean install) the system? 2. Is there any other computer connecting to the wireless router? If so, is it working properly? 3. What is the exact brand and model of your wireless router, and what are the exact steps youve performed to configure it? (If possible, please provide me with a URL link.) For your reference, Ive included a KB article about how to connect to a wireless network in Windows Vista: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;928429 Additionally, please try the following suggestions: 1. Please confirm the status of the NIC adapter via Device Management--------------------a. Click Start, type Devmgmt.msc in the Start Search box, and press Enter.b. Expand Network Adapters and check if there is any error shown on the NIC adapter. 2. Please install the latest driver for the NIC adapter. 3. If possible, please perform a hardware reset on the wireless router and then reconfigure it. (Important Note: Generally, the manufacturer should provide a Step-By-Step manual with pictures to demonstrate how to configure the router. Please ensure you know how to configure the wireless router before hardware reset it. Also, most wireless router should support backup/restore. If this is the case with your wireless router, please backup the configurations first.) 4. If the issue persists after that, please log into Safe Mode with Networking and check the issue. 5. If the issue disappears in Safe Mode with Networking, please perform a clean boot to prevent background programs conflicts:-------------------a. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and press Enter.b. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.c. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.d. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.e. Click OK, and then click Restart. After performing the above steps, check the result. If the issue persists, please collect the following information for further research: Capture a screenshot of the error message. Application and System Loga. Click Start, type eventvwr on the Start Search boxb. Expand Windows Logs, right-click Application, and click Save Event As to export the system event log to a .evtx filec. Expand Windows Logs, right-click System, and click Save Event As to export the system event log to a .evtx fileNOTE: please select Display information for these languages, and select English option on the Display Information dialog box. System Informationa. Click Start, type msinfo32 on the Start Search boxb. On the System Information window, click File, and click Save to export the system information to a .NFO file. After that, please upload the files to the following space: https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=3b02b21e-d9ba-4201-b271-f1499252ea7c Password: r^bp2A%^[l Thanks.
