Wireless N connection intermittent with Linksys WMP300N PCI adapter
I have a wireless N network setup using a Linksys WMP300N PCI adapter in my PC and a Linksys WRT310N router. The Windows initially comes up either from a cold start, hibernate or sleep and sees the network but shows "no internet access." Disabling and re-enabling the adapter generally (but not always) solves this problem. The network is secured with WPA2-Personal and SSID is broadcast. Under Windows Vista, I do not have this problem.

Please run Windows Update and confirm that you are running the latest updates for your network adapters. If you have the latest updates and you are still seeing problems, please reply with: --- make/model of the Wi-Fi card. You can get this by typing "netsh wlan sho dr" on the command prompt ----make/model of your Wi-Fi router --- problem symptoms --- reproduction steps for problem to happenThanks,Alok ManchandaMicrosoft Corporation

Tnx Alok to look into this problem. The adapter is a Linksys WMP300N - V2 (European version). Router is a Thomson SpeedTouch 706WL. I have tried withe latest update of Microsoft drivers through update and also directly with manufacturer latest driver. With the installation of manufactuer driver I had a message right at the beginning : "la chaine PRODUCT_KEY n'a pas t trouve dans la table des chaines". It is the french W7 installation I have. Installation carried on normally only later the problems started. System froze unregularly, sometimes right at beginng, sometimes later. It ended sometims with a blue screen with version 6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1 ID 1036. I uninstalled seven or more the driver and reinstalled it but without success. The same driver is functionning normally on XP SP3 installed on same PC but on a different HD. With W7 Beta version the update driver from Microsoft did the same, I uninstalled it and replace it with a previous version, it was than working fine (I do not have anymore this old version). As I mentioned in my first thread, I connected the router to PC with Ethernet cable which is running without any problem. Still I would like to use the Linksys adapter to get away from the 30 feet cable. Tnx for your reply Gilbert Schenesse

Hi Alok, You put me in an awkward position : first I have uninstalled driver for the adapter as he has created to much trouble, second pls can you give some details on the netsh command. It seems you need MS Word 2003, I have MS word 2000. I checked already in forums but it turns more around Vista and XP SP3. Anyway I am ready to continue in order to find a solution as I have mentioned abode I would like to get rid of Ethernet cable Tnx for your reply Gilbert

Apologies Gilbert, I missed that part in your email about having uninstalled the device. Would you please try the following:* Connect and enable your WLAN NIC* Open device manager (devmgmt.msc)* Select the device in device manager and right click* Choose uninstall* If you see a checkbox to delete the driver, check that too* Wait for uninstall to complete* Once device is uninstalled click on Scan for Hardware Changes button in device manager* Let device manager install the driverOnce the driver is installed run the commandin a command prompt (cmd.exe): netsh wlan show driver; copy and paste it's output into your reply. Also please determine the device PNPID and share that with me. Please also verify thta you are continuing to see the issues you reported earlier. Note that you do not need any version of word to run the netsh command. It runs in command prompt (cmd.exe) :-)Thanks,Alok ManchandaMicrosoft Corporation.

Hi Alok, Have followed your instructions, but right after start up system froze, blue screen followed with following info : Stop :0x00000124 (0x00000000, 0xB5F9B024, 0xB2000000, 0x00070F0F) I restarted many times W7 sometimes I could reach the browser (IE8 or FireFox) but connections never stand longer than one or two minutes when system was again frozen. I had to go back under Ethernet. I also checked again under XP SP3 if adapter is working properly, absolutely no problem with XP. Tnx for your reply. Gilbert

John, sorry that nobody has been helping you despite you starting this thread. Have you checked in action center to see if it has found any issues with your hardware or software?

The issue is in the router. Well try upgrading the firmware of the router & keep on holding tightlythe reset button in such a way that power light is blinking on therouter & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the powercables from the modem & from the router & then plug in the power cableto the modem first once all the lights are solid green you could plugin the power cable to the router & check out it will definately work!! Open the setup page of router using 192.168.1.1 then put in thepassword as admin...all you need to do is do the wireless settings suchas Radio Band Frequency to Standard 20 MHZ frequency, channel to 11. Also, the advanced wireless settings to Beacon Interval=50,Fragthres=2306 & Rts thres=2307 & then uncheck a Block Anonymous InternetRequests & it will definately work!!!Furthermore, if you are just running wireless G, change wireless to mixed bG instead of just MIXED with N.
