Wireless Connection Takes time to connect after Sleep and wake
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit I usually let the laptop go to sleep and when i wake the computer, the wireless connection takes about 2 or 3 minutes to reconnect to the network. I have another win 7 laptop that connects as soon as it wakes up but this one does not do that. The wireless connects fine when i boot the computer but its just after Sleep and wake. The wireless symbol right bottom of the screen tells me that there are wireless networks in the vicinity but takes some time to connect; I have set my network to connect automatically if it detects it. I have done fair bit of googling but nothing has seemed to be the solution. Thanks

Hi, You may try to set a static IP address for a test. If it does not help, please open Device Manager=>expend the Network Adapter=>Right-click the adapter=>Click properties=>Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

I have the same problem with my laptop. Allow computer to turn off device to save power: is not checked. Advanced power options: the Wireless Adapter is set to "Maximum Performance". I have a static ip set to 192.168.1.2 It was working for months then stopped 2 months ago after I had troubles connecting to a friend's wireless network unsuccessfuly. So I believe I must have changed something, but what? I have even removed the wireless adapter and re-added with latest drivers. I have 2 laptops on the wireless LAN. One is connected immediately when I open the lid after sleep, i.e. wireless adaptor enabled & I can browse and work online. The other has to enable the wireless adapter and re-connect to the router which takes a minute or so. Not a showstopper because I am then up and running... but very frustrating. I have trawled forums and searched for 2 months now. Could very well have missed the solution somewhere? Good luck milky9311, I hope we both find the solution here. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
