Wireless Authentication?
Hello All,I recently went over a friends house & attempted to connect to his wireless. He has a Belkin router setup with WEP. Win 7 was able to locate the network. Then I attempted to connect to it a login box appeared. It was asking for a USERNAME & PASSWORD. Never seen this box before. I assumed it must've been asking for admin elevated rights. I made the current account with super admin rights. Rebooted the system and the box returned. I've connected to other wireless network before just not this one. Thanks for your time & attention,

Hi rlocone Whoeverconfiguredthat wireless connection used the recommended security settings and configured a connection name and password. This prevents all of the neighbors from using the connection. With the older, less secure, WEP, it could be that the username and password were left blank. If this is the case, you should be able to simply press Enter, when that dialog appears and connect. If a username and password were set, you will need to ask the personwho configured that connection. *NOTE: I am moving your thread to the Windows 7 Security Forum for more focused attention. Hope this helps. Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta Ronnie Vernon MVP

Thanks, I'll be able to test that out when I go back up there in V-Day weekend.
