On the HP latop the F12 key is your WIFI key so when it was off you were not able to connect to the wireless network and when it was on you were able to connect

I have a HP 56 laptop. This gave the ptoblem listed by many others that "No connections were available" The guy from a major chain where I bought it could find no problem and re-installed Windows 7. It was fine for 2 weeks then again
the same problem. I contacted my ISP provider (Virgin) and their techie sorted it out in 10 secs. The F12 button disables the internet connection and shows a red light. This was on, pressed the button, light went out and internet connection
resumed. Brilliant.
