Wireless (ANY!) not working on new Windows 7 machine
Ethernet works fine, but wireless does not. It "connects" to any of the available wireless networks, no "No Internet access" (except for the brief couple-of-seconds connection here and there). I've tried multiple driver versions on 4 different adaptors (2 PCI, 1 PCIe, and 1 usb). I have two laptops here that have no wireless issues.

Hi, First, please check this issue in Clean Boot. If the issue persists, please go to run the built-in network troubleshooter and delete and recreate the wireless network connection. Also, please take the following steps to test this issue: Configure the connection to obtain an IP address automatically ======================================= a. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter". b. Right-click the network connection and click "Properties". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. c. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click "Properties". d. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". e. Click "OK". f. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties". g. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". h. Click "OK". i. Reboot the computer. After that, please try to uninstall and reinstall the latest driver to test it. What's the result now? Regards, Sabrina TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. All the adaptors were left at their defaults... ie, they were already set to fetch their addresses automatically. I did try static IP once... no improvement. I tried the "clean boot" tactic, but still no improvement.

Hi, Have you tried the Network troubleshooter in Windows 7? References: Use Network troubleshooter event logs to solve network problems Why can’t I find a wireless network? I already tried the troubleshooter. No improvement. I tried hard coding the DNS server to Google's. I tried netsh fixes. I looked at the router logs, and it said there were credential problems... so I manually created the wireless profiles on the computer, making sure the SSID, encryption type, and key perfected matched up. It seemed to work momentarily... then failure again. I seemed to be able to connect to a nearby unsecured network after all this though. I checked the event viewer and it had multiple HOSTS file errors... tried resetting the hosts fix via a FixIT... no improvement. Anyway, I've cheated and now doing a format and reinstall, with a wireless card installed from the start. We'll see how that goes.

Adding on Sabrina advise, if you're running the wireless with a router, you would need to ensure the passphrase and ssid is the same for both router setting as well as the wireless setting on your rig itself Kindly respond if your issue has yet to be resolve and we could continue from here

Issue persists after reinstall. I think it's either an issue with the Sandy Bridge platform in general, or more likely, this particular MB and BIOS. I ended up re-building the system on an Athlon II platform, and everything is fine.
