Yep same here folks. I initially thought that maybe the Asus MB drivers needed to be installed, thinking that perhaps the Win 7 drivers were only meant as temps to get the system running and that might have been causing the issue. But nay, that was not the case. I did what you and Rich pretty much did. I disabled the network card and then re-enabled it and voila, I connected again. Had this problem just this morning before posting this reply. One thing I did notice in my NIC card settings was that the (Flow Control) option somehow got disabled so I had to set that back to Tx & Rx. Luckily that issue has not creeped up again. I also had the symptom where two network groups show up where there should only be one and this issue always takes place after a reboot or log off / Log in event. But if all I have to do is Restart the adapter every time then things could be worse I suppose. But it does get a little annoying having to do that all the time. So far Win 7 seems pretty stable. It doesn't feel like Vista, XP, 2K or any of the previous MS-OS releases. Doesn't seem top heavy and the install is pretty fast. The nice thing about this install is that it recognizes the Sata II DVD-ROM drives without having to boot from a floppy to pre-load the ROM drivers in order to get the install going. Also found this little nugget of info online:
Check to see if you have this little devil in your services list:
"##Id_String2.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B87 9762 ##"
If you do, stop it and disable it. It is actually the Bonjour DNS Responder Service, and I believe it is the cause of the
"Unidentified Network."
The Unidentified Network disappeared after stopping this service and a quick disable/enable of the NIC, restoring Internet
access.
I Actually just rebooted, edited this post, and then re-enabled the offensive service to see what would happen...
Immediately after enabling the NIC and this ____ service, the "Unidentified Network" returned...stopped it, disabled it,
disable/enable NIC...Internet back up and running and no "Unidentified Network." (woot - woot!)
Hope that helps! I haven't had issues since...
