Winndows 7 and monitor flicker
I am running windoew 7 Ultimate 64 bit with 8 GB memory and a Hanns G if 281 (28" monitor). Recommended resolution is 1920 X 1200 and that's what it's running. I am running an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT with dedicated memory of 512MB and shared memory 3583MB for a total of 4095Mb. The installed driver is dated 9/27/2009 provided by NVIDIA and is driver version 8.16.11.9107. I hope thats enough information. The monitor flickers all the time and any changes of the refrest rate form 50 to 60 or back makes no difference at all I used to think that the siae of the open window made a difference, but i don't think so any more. Please let me know what I can use to get rid of the flicker. I felt certain that a higher regresh rate will work, but I can't get one. Dan danhutch45@gmail.com

Is this a constant, steady flickering, like what you see with slow refresh and fluorescent lighting, or is is erratic, and causing the entire screen to blink out? I am also running a GeForce 9800 card, but my monitor is not as high res as yours. Found that while trying to run at the monitor native res (1600 x 1200 @ 60hz), there would be a lot of video noise that you could easily see with a black screen, and the whole display would erratically flicker out, but it was not a constant flickering as I believe you are describing. IMO, 50Hz is far too slow a refresh rate. 60Hz works for my display (Viewsonic VX2000), but 75Hz is better, but this monitor does not support it at higher res. I am not having any problems running at 1280 x 1024, but gave up on trying to run 1600 x 1200 with this monitor. If you have another monitor available, try that one. Also, try different resolutions and refresh rates. Fw

Hi Danhutch45, Please first download the newer display card driver from nVIDIA. Also, you can install the monitor driver from Hanns.G and then change the refresh rate to a higher setting. Note: If the driver is not for Windows 7, you can install it in the Compatibility mode. Please Note: The third-party products discussed here are manufactured by companies that are independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability. If the issue persists, please test the issue with another monitor and see if the issue occurs. Hope this helps. Regards, Linda

I have the same problem as the post above. I bought this monitor in 2009 and now I get a random Black out and back on. I think when he says FLICKER he means the screen will go black and then come back. It is driving me up a WALL. As I type this it is not doing it at all. But at times it might do it a few times a minute. I went to that hanns link and there is no driver available as I can see. Any Ideas I am using a 6970 HD radeon card that costs about 350$.

60Hz is quite neough for anything except perhaps high-speed gaming - as you should very well know. 50Hz is acceptable for normal office applications, assuming everything else is OK.Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

I use a gaming rig with far more performance than the average box. I detest flicker and other imperfections on my screen. LCD never flicker. Even screens on really old portables still look good when I power them up. Most gamers are using 1920x1080 and a few are using the 1920x1200 models as this screen size is now standardized for consoles and PC alike. I wonder if there is a problem with the INF for the screen. Its a good monitor; but I guess something is jsut not working anymore. I bought another one "same model" and it works no problem. I took the old monitor that had trouble and put it on my second gaming rig and it blacked on and off the same way. You can actually see if you look in the top back the light inside going out and back on. So it is the monitor and not my 5970 Vid card.
