Winlogon error 1218 on server 2003 when a windows 7 pro PC connects via RDP
I am setting up a new Windows 7 Pro PC and initially it would connect to the remote server 2003 viaa RDP. I then moved the PC to the remote office and the RDP connections started to fail. There are 4 other PCs at this location that are able to connect via RDP. I then took the PC back to my place to troubleshoot. When I couldn't get it to work, I reinstalled the factory image of the OS and updated it. However, the RDP connection still does not connect. On the server, I found this error in Event Viewer: Winlogon error 1218 - Failed to load terminal server path. Note that the profile path must be less than 256 characters in length. Username: <username> Domain: <domain> The PCs at the remote office are all Windows XP machines and they work. My laptop is XP and it works. My home PC is Windows 7 Pro x64 and it works. For some reason, this new Windows 7 Pro x86 machine will not work - even after a fresh install of the OS. Changing the username does not help - I have tried each username that works with the other PCs and I have tried the doamin administrator account which works on other machines as well. Why would this one PC not work? Could this be an issue on the server or the PC?
