Wininit warning at Power-up
This warning always occurs during PUP. Is this a normal thing or is there something that I can do to fix this. Loading dll s for applications seem normal to me, so, why the warning. I appreciate any help you can give me, thank you.Log Name: SystemSource: Microsoft-Windows-WininitDate: 1/29/2010 4:14:20 PMEvent ID: 11Task Category: NoneLevel: WarningKeywords: User: SYSTEMComputer: George-PCDescription:Custom dynamic link libraries are being loaded for every application. I don't use Kaspersky. Although I did uninstall my av/as program with no change. Why wouldn't each application load its dll s ?

I suggest dumping kasperky and using the free Microsoft Security Essentials, link is on my site's front page. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! I don't use Kaspersky. I use AVG because it works. I tried Security Essentials because it was free and got a good review from CNET but found it was totally useless as far as removing tracking cookies and probably everything else it didn't see. Thank you for your input and you have my vote for whatever office you're running for. I still don't understand why applications would not load their respective dll files. So, why am I being warned that this is happening? Is this a normal occurance on PUP and the warning is erroneous?
January 30th, 2010 3:29pm

AVG is also good, and I do not see any problems with it. I have evaluated it for stability and compatibility and its fine. If you continue to have problems, in the search box of the start menu sfc /scannow will check to see that all the Windows files are OK. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! I ran sfc/scannow from a command prompt and it returned the message---"Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations". In another question of mine called :Driver\WUDFRd failed to load... I ran a verifier utility and need to know where to find the minidump file that it generated. Can you point me in the right direction?

I tried to copy and paste. Changed format to NotePad, WordPad. Can't drag and drop to here either. It keeps opening a new web tab. It is rather large. I suppose if I opened it in notepad and copied all of the text, I might be able to paste it here.
January 30th, 2010 7:38pm

You can paste a fairly large amount of text in the forum. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! I tried. It spent about 5 or 6 minutes loading and then nothing. It didn't get submitted. I can open the reply window, paste it in, but, when I hit 'Submit' , the cursor spins and spins. I then get a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark that says 'Warning from Webpage'.P.S. I have an old Radeon HD2400 video board you can have. But the commute to SE Pennsylvania to pick it up would not be cost effective.
January 30th, 2010 8:24pm

How much to ship it to Canada? The HD2400 is far better for Windows 7 than my spare video card. Probably be about $8 in a one of those USPS boxes. If the file is go to my site and paste into my forums. Mine are set for 64K messages. You could also email it to me, see contact on the site. I removed AVG. I still get the warning except Event Data String is now empty. I have to come to the conclusion that spyware is not to blame. Three months since I asked the question. This goes back to the upgrade from Vista. It never caused problems that I know of, and would still be causing no problems that I know of if I hadn't been nosey and opened the Event Viewer.

I have begun having this error on a workstation with mysterious disk issues and on a Server 2008 R2 SQL server that's been giving me fits. I'm a little queasy about it- sounds an awful lot like a root kit to me! Would someone care to explain it a little further? Please? The issue is NOT that applications are loading DLLs, it's that these DLLs do not match Windows definition of what they should be. I'm guessing that means that system files have either been corrupted or attacked. Either way, its hard to view this as trivial!David Caudill IT Manager

I suggest immediately scanning the server for malware. I use Microsoft Security Essentials on my server and its been OK so far. Try the System File Checker, press windows+r and then sfc /scannow Windows MVP, paid Remote Assistance is available for XP, Vista and Windows 7. Hi It's been a long time since this thread was active, don't know if youre still having problems. I had the same prob as you - I use MSE (prob had nothing to do with antivirus) - and I found a solution at: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r26170762-RESOLVED-WIN7-Event-ID-11-but-AppInit-is-blank. The warning (Wininit) is removed by restoring the following registry key to the default value of "0" HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\LoadAppInit_DLLs Hope you can use this
