Windows xp user account control over Ethernet adapter?
On my windows xp pro systems I started using a single user account rather then an admin account for many reasons that I need not get into now. but I've run into some problems. One is I like to create a shortcut for my local area connection or internet connection as i call it. This shortcut key is on the desktop and is handy for disconnecting the Ethernet connection from the network when I am away from my computer and have it running many tasks such as virus scans and defrag my hard drive. I know I could just unplug the cable from the back of the computer but that would in time lead me to a broken cable or worse yet a broken Ethernet card. trust me It's happened. so here is the problem, when I create this shortcut to Ethernet adapter and goto hit right mouse click to disable it in a user account I can't. I can do this as a admin in windows xp and as a user in windows 7 but not in xp. anyone know if there is a way around this?
