Windows xp install & network connection trouble
Recently had the hard drive replaced on my Dell Vostro 1000. Now since we got it back the screen type can't keep up with keyboard typing & whenever my computer restarts I have to go into Wireless Network Connection Properties & check the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings box. I have to do this everytime I restart. Is there a fix for the network problem or is this all from a bad windows install? The shop told us it was a bad keyboard & replaced it with no luck & now won't help anymore. Won't use them again or buy another Dell! Also while trouble shooting I found that I have XP service pack 3 on my 64-bit computer, Micosoft says there is no SP3 for 64-bit version of XP. Is this true & could this be a proplem? 1 person needs an answerI do too

HiI can only tell you what I would do.I would start with the knowledge that there are thousands of Vostro 1000 computers that work well, and Millions of Windows XP x64 SP2 that works well.I would log to Dell's Support for the Laptop, and download the software and the Drivers for Win XP x64.Reformat the hard Drive, and install Win XP x64 SP2. If it works well then I know that the Hardware and basic software are OK.As for SP3. It was not release for x64, but it can be Installed. That said different "Strange" thing can happen when it is installed. Some Enthusiasts like to play with it and enjoy the play (or "foam" when they do not get it their way). However if whatever I need works well with SP2, I will leave SP2 as is.Otherwise, I would consider an upgrade to Win 7 Home Premium. Jack, MVP-Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET
