Windows wont let me log on using my fingerprint sensor but allows me to enroll fingerprints.
Hi I have an ASUS n81vg with an Authentec AES1610 fingerprint scanner(says on device manager). This used to work fine with no problem with vista but when I upgraded to windows 7, windows updated the driver for it and installed a softare called Authentec Truesuite Starter. When I go to the control panel and click the option "manage your finger print data" it works fine. The Truesuite Starter will let me enroll my fingerprints. For some reason when I try and log on windows an error message comes up statin that "your fingerprints have not been enrolled for authentication" when I clearly have.. I have been searchin on google and on forums but no one seems to be havin the same sort of problem. I am using an administrator account and the fingerprint scanner is detected by windows device manager and it says that "the device is working properly" Any assistance or help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, First, I suggest going to update the chipset (motherboard) and bios to test. · After that, please reinstall the driver as below: Reinstall driver ============== 1. Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box and press Enter. 2. Locate the “Double click to expand "Sound, video and game controllers” 3. Right click it and click Uninstall. 4. Check "Delete driver software for this device" check box, click OK. 5. Restart the computer After that, please refer to the ASUS site to download the drivers. This is NOT a driver issue, as Windows Update will correctly install the proper driver, and FMA, or Fingerprint management application. In your case, TrueSuite Starter. Now as for your issue, I have seen where the enrollments are improperly registered at enrollment. I would first try to reenroll. Secondly, are you using the "Biometric Devices" control panel applet, or is it a specific TrueSuite applet? I would use the Biometric devices page, and launch the FMA from there. Make sure you have enabled the tickbox for biometric logins. Try these and get back to us, Im sure we can find a resolve. I did a clean install of Windows 7 on a brand new hard drive and had the same type of problem here is what I did to fix the problem, first I removed he Truesuite software, in my case the Toshiba finger print utility program. As it worked fine with the Truesuite software, but I couldn't enroll my fingers prints. So, here's how you fix the problem. After removing the Truesuite software. Go to the command line, and type in "finger", go up to "Biometric Devices", if you don't see your finger print device, you have to update your device driver, so go to device manager and right click on it and tell it to update. Let it find the device via the web. After which you can go back to the "Biometric Devices" and you should see the device. However, if you try the Truesuite software it will not see it. So go back the "biometric device and on the left side of that screen select "Change biometric settings", In this screen you can turn it off, which is what you want to do, then save the change. That will delete any finger prints on file. Then turn it back on and select Allow users to log on to Windows using fingerprints. After saving that change, it will take you back one screen. To the right of the screen beside your listed device, it will say "Manage your finger prints data. Select it, you will be promoted to answer two questions select yes on both of them, then select your fingers to be scanned, after your done, you can restart your computer. You will be asked for your password the first time you log in after that you don't need to. That's it your done.
