Windows wireless connection keeps disconnecting from network.
We switched ISPs to Fios a few weeks ago, and my Dad's computer is having issues staying connected to the Wifi network. He is running win xp home. It works for about 10 mins until it is "Unable to connect to preferred wireless network". When I open the available network to try and reconnect, it doesn't work. It says "waiting for network" but never connects. So I hit cancel and have to make my way to the internet protocol tc/icp properties, then click OK, and it connects to the network for another 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat. But the trick is, before I go to internet protocol properties, i MUST let it fail in connecting to the available network.Another thing, If i have it set to obtain IP and DNS server address automatically, it is stuck on "acquiring network address" forever. never connects. I have to manually set IP address and DNS servers for the internet to work for the 10 minutes... then the above issues.I have no clue how to fix this so the internet will just work! Please help!1 person got this answerI do too
