HiI have a application of my own making. Yesterday I had run the program. Today I recieve a exe filefrom a programmer friend and overwrite the old exe in the windows program directory. Now windowstells me it will not open the applcation. I went to interent security and set my site as a trusted websitethinking the change to settings will solve the problem. No Luck!I`ve had other problems with the new Norton anti-virus protection not allowing me to download and installfrom my website this same application. It seems sonar feature has a problem with the program. Nortonhas a site that reviews websites for viruses..I have a safe site by their review.It seems very difficult to sell shareware. Windows 7 and Norton are being very troublesome.Any ideas on how to solve this problem

HiI just did a check with Norton of the exe and it finds no virus related problems. I assume windows 7 feels differently.

Which version of Norton do you have? The lastest and the best. 2010. I`m usually good a purchasing a product that is compatible with my current OS. I had all the older versions ofNorton and never had a problem with virus detection regarding my applications. I`m still wondering why win7 is giving me a hard time. I need to find a solution so I can make mention of a solution at my website. Its hard to make sales when potential customers can`t download or open a program.

Having .exe for downloading is never a good idea.what happens if you do a zip file.I have customers with Norton, it is a pain but they can download files without issues.

HiThe installer is in a zip format. Norton scans the file as safe. Then I click to start the install. A small nortonsonar dialogbox pops up and then the fun starts. Basically Norton does not allow the application to installitself. Then as a added time waster norton requests a reboot. I know this isn`t a norton forum. But still I have that error message regarding windows not allowing accessto the app that`s on my desktop. I`m new to win7 so I assume I need to change some setting somewhere.

Is the executable signed (i.e., with a code-signing certificate)? Signatures are more and more necessary.When you right-click on the file, does it show a Digital Signatures tab?-Noel

HiNo....I don`t have a spare $200 per year for this new signing certificate game.

That is strange. I think it might have to do with Windows doing some virtualization on that file. Right-click the shortcut and choose Open File Location. Then try right-clicking the EXE in the window that opens and choosing properties there. Also, just out of curiosity: when you Open File Location, does it actually open up the folder C:\Program Files\Wood Solutions\DoorCut or is it opening up the virtualized location of C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\blah blah blah\Door Cut If this was helpful, please vote. I suspect that the issues are caused by the Internet security function of Norton. How does it work if you uninstall Norton completely? Hi ShawnOpening File Location is pointing to my C:\ windows \ program files directory. No matter where I click I still get the error.Windows will not open this file.

HiToday I have more fun. I recieved a visual studio project from a friend. Now winzip refuses to extract. I believe it had a problem with the access 2007 database. Up until a few days ago I was openingand extracting anything I wanted. Now I can just look at the PC and get nothing done.PS. I have not changed any settings in Norton.PS2. HiI believe I made a mistake when looking for unblock. First I was looking at the desktop shortcut for the applcation.I then went to the program directory and do see the unblock button. Clicking on it was very helpful LOL...it did nothing.
