when im on xp sp 2 fresh install my dlink dwa 130 wifi works just fine. when i update everything my wifi becomes very unstable and unusable. i dont disconnect from my network but i when i surf the the web sometimes pages stop loading. my download speeds fluctuate like crazy. and recently my usb ports dont recognize anything. i know its not a hardware failure as linux can use them just fine. this happens every time with fresh installs and iv tested that my hardware is not failing. the motherboard is pcchips a33g

iv managed to fix my usb ports by clearing the cmos but theres one important update after i install sp3 that causes everything to go down again. thanks for your help looks like im going to be stuck on sp3 with updater off
