Windows update not working in Windows 7 RC
Few days back, windows update stopped working in Windows 7RC installed in my desktop. It was working properly earlier, and it had updated nearly 10-15 updates. Now I get an error - "Code 8024019-Windows update encountered an unknown error". I tried to disable the firewalls but still no luck. The update fails to update the files, it even fails to connect to the update site to check for new updates. In fact I am unable to download any files fromMicrosoftdownload site. IE shows an 404 error. Same with mozilla browsers. My windows RC is registered and activated.Any help is appreciated. Thanks

You disabled the firewalls IOW, you have the Windows Firewall and at least oneadditional (3rd party) Firewall running at the same time. Neat.Uh...okay.So, I'm assuming that you have some Antivirus/Security Suite installed....?? If that's the case would you mind letting us know what it is? Could be whatever AV/Security software you're using is disrupting the connection to the update server by means of some type of website filtering or scanning.GA P35 DQ6 Mb, Intel Wolfdale 8600 3.33Ghz C2D CPU., 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 Ascents Memory Mods., PNY-nVidia GE Force 8800 GTS (640MB), 4-Western Digital Caviar SATA(2) HDD's (internal), 1 EIDE-USB External; Hauppauge PVR 1600 TV tuner, Dual Monitor: (1) Standard up top, (1) WideScreen below; Altec Lansing Speakers. AV - Avast Home EditionNo other security software installed. Only Windows DEfender is active.I did think about the possiblityearlier. So I disabled Windows Firewall and AV but no luck.

Y.Praveen, You may still want to uninstall Avast in order to provide a completely clean testing environment - so long as the software is installed, it could be causing a conflict.-Alex

Alright, issue got fixed now.I restored the system to a previous restore point, and updates/downloads are working now. Basically I reverted back nearly 4-5 or morewindows updates. It also includes updates for Windows Defender.I'm sure one of them messed up my system, which makes me really sad since i had enjoyed using windows 7.I have set windows update to manual mode, so I am not updating my windows as of now. I'll try to install each update in controlled manner and let u guys know if any one of them is the culprit.
