Hi, several of my updates using Windows Update have been unsuccessful. I get errorcode 80242006. 2 Questions. 1. Anyone who knows what this actuallt is and why it appears? 2. Anyone who knows what to do about it? Ive searched windowss sites and found solutions for other OSs but they dont work on windows 7. I would need to know how I can install these updates anyway if possible and hopefully what to do to make it not happen again. Thanks in advance.

Whether your copy of Windows 7 RC 7100 is Activated or not you still should be getting your updates.perian-As to your issue: sounds like your Temporary directory for the Windows Updates might be corrupted.Try deleting the following files and/or foldersin the Windows/SoftwareDistibution directory (the best way is tobe in Safe Mode [minimal services and drivers]...if you don't know how to do that, come back to this thread and I fill you in on how): 1. in the DataStore folder - delete DataStore.edb. 2. In the same DataStore folder there is another folder called Logs - delete all the files you see in there; 3. in the Download folder - delete anything and everything in that folder; 4. in the EventCache folder - delete everything you find in there.Upon restarting Windows your Windows Update Temporary directory will be as good as new...sorta. You'll loose your history but any previous successful Windows Updates will still be on your system. This was a great suggestion, although it just made the history visible to me go away. It still seems the OS knows somehow what Ive tried to install and not, cause I now just see those updates that was not installed, nor downloaded by me. Those wich have been downloaded but with a failed install is not availeble now either. So. This DID clear my history. It did reveal my hidden updates. It DID NOT make it possible for me to retry to install those installations that had failed. Thanks for the help though, it sounded right./perian

perian - It's entirely possible that the Windows Updates "failures" that you are refering to may have failed once but then were successful later. Too late to tell now. I should have suggested that you compare the "failures" with the "successful" ones; odds are that you would have seen updates that failed were eventually successful. If you ran Windows Updates after deleting all of those files and it said that "No Updates Available" then that just proves my point above: those failures that you were seeing earlier were eventually successful; otherwise Windows Updates would have informed you that updates were available.
