Windows takes 2extra minutes to boot when not connected to domain
Test was simple boot with network cable connected (to office network) boots in about 2minutes. Unplug cable ant it takes 4 minutes. I have changed desktop background picture and Set maximum wait time for the network if a user has a roaming user profile or remote home directory and set it to 0 with no sucess. I've tried msconfig and disabling all services and startup items. still doesn't help. What is windows trying to do and then it times out??

What is windows trying to do and then it times out?? Have you checked your eventlogs? All relevant information regarding boot & logon is recorded there, so that should ALWAYS be the first place to start looking for clues. Regarding all your mentioned changes: be aware that every setting you change may adversely affect your attempt to debug performance issues. I'd rather do one thing at a time to determine probable causes.

Your PC tried to connect the Comain controller and fails. This causes the delay. Ask in the Server forums how to change the timeout values. I'm not a Server expert."A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

My initial thread is here http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/732a0f12-d899-43db-975e-fb1555379b7e and we have determined why my laptop takes forever to boot. When I am not connect to the office network it takes an extra 2minutes. Where can I change the time out delay to stop trying to connect to network stuff?
