I have trouble getting windows to start. When my computer starts up, I get the Compaq logo on the screen which is fine. The next screen shows that Windows XP is starting up, but it never gets there. It goes back to the Compaq screen. By hitting F8 and then choosing to start up using the last good configuration, I can get Windows XP to start up and everything works fine until I have to restart the computerr and then the whole problem start all over. The next time you get it back up to the desktop, create a new restore point [with system restore].See if that makes a difference.If not, take a look at whatever you may have installed SINCE that 'last known good' point.
