Windows shows non-genuine after think point virus removal
Original title: Possible Software Counterfeit I just got on my computer to see a message that says my computer may have and possible windows xp counterfeit program. I'm very confused at this point because since I have bought the computer in 2004 it has always had Windows XP on it. The only difference that has occurred is a couple of viruses on the way. After my first virus I let a associate of mine friend fix the computer. When I got it back it had Windows XP and Window XP Professional as an option when you are booting it up. I was told to use the professional one and I have ever since. Now about three weeks ago I had an Think Point virus on my computer that allowed some vicious virus on my computer and they had to delete all of my computer programs and reinstall them. Now I'm getting all of these messages. I'm very tired of spending money at this point. Is there any thoughts about this problem I'm having. Help me PLEASE!!!

Hi Christa M, Do you have the Product key for Windows XP?Did you install Windows XP using the disc that you purchased along with the comptuer? Every time you format the harddrive and reinstall Windows you need to re-activate the copy. You may activate the copy of Windows by using the automated telephone system. Also you may access the link below and follow the steps mentioned under “How to activate Windows XP by phone” and try to activate the copy of Windows XP.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307890 Hope it helps.
