Windows not booting up
I have been using the RC of windows 7 and today my computer restarted but it wont boot into windows it tries to boot from my cd-drive and says insert bootable drive. When I try to get it to boot from the actual hard drive it says theres no OS on the hard drive but when I go through the BIOS it says theres memory taken up in my hard drive so the OS is still on the hard drive but it wont boot. Anything I can do to get windows to boot?

chances are your drive is dead or going to.The drive must be a DVD drive.Do you have data you wish to keep?? If so STOP pull the drive get a ide / sata to usb kit connect to a known good PC and save the data if you can.If you do care about the data, boot to the DVD and try to repair the current install or reinstall.or seach here for many post on using a USB drive to install from.

Look in bios to see if it still recognizes the hard drive, otherwise do as Bubba said. Hope you had a backup, RC was going away anways soon, get a new drive and either buy 7, or get the 90 day trial of Enterprise, but you can only put off the purchase so long.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. You don't have to disable your cdrom drive, just changing the boot order to hard drive first. In bios, when you select the hard drive, does it give you any details about the HD? If not, your drive is dead, replace it.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Have you tried to boot into Last Known Good mode? If it does not help, I suggest you boot with the DVD and run Startup Repair.Arthur Xie - MSFT
