Windows not activated.

Hey all,

A month or 2 ago I bought an acer laptop with windows 8.1 pre-installed. Lately I have been getting notifications saying that my windows license will expire soon. I tried to activate, but no success. I found my windows key with a 3rd party tool since there is no sticker on my laptop with with the key. I tried to fill it in using slui 3, but that did not work either.

So I was getting annoyed by the constant notifications and tried to find another fix. I opened CMD as administrator and typed this in slmgr -rearm. After that I restarted my laptop and it seemed to work. I didnt get the notifications anymore. However when I checked if my  windows was activated at the windows activation settings it said that my windows is not activated and windows can't activate right now. Please try again later. I tried to fill in my windows key again, but its saying that it's incorrect.

Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance.

edit; at  the right bottom corner of my desktop there is a "watermark" saying Windows 8.1 and the build number.

Where did you buy the computer?  What do they have to say about this?  Have you changed any of the software?

Please run MGA to find if the key is legitimate.

MGA Diagnostic Report:

To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop -http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )

Once downloaded, run the tool. Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button. Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post.

One Issue Per Thread:

Most Activation and Validation issues look the same, on the surface, but can have many different causes and fixes. This is why we ask for a diagnostic report and this is also why we ask that you create your own thread for your issue (in other words, don't post your issue in another person's thread).

It just becomes too complicated to try to troubleshoot multiple different issues in the same thread.

I bought it at a retail electronic store. I haven't contacted them regarding this issue yet. I haven't changed anything as far as I know. I'll try to run the MGA diagnostic tool soon. Thanks for your reply
