Windows live communications apps like Mail, People, Skype... fail to start for domain user.

Windows live communications apps like Mail, People, Skype... fail to start when logging with domain user account who is part of the administrators group. Applications start and then closed immediately like the splash screen. Same applications are working for local users.

I have checked the even viewer and found the following error for the people applications:

Activation of app microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Microsoft.WindowsLive.People failed with error: This app does not support the contract specified or is not installed. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information.

I tried all possible solutions of adjusting registry and file system permissions with no luck; actually all permissions are correct and I didn't change anything.

Please advise and help

Hi

Since you already mentioned that you check the permission and registry keys, please check the following KB article for good measure.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2798317

Try App troubleshooter, it works in some cases.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/what-troubleshoot-problems-app

If this issue still persists, run following command in a administrative Windows PowerShell window to re-register all apps in Windows store

Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
