Windows goes back to sleep a few seconds after wakeup
My Thinkpad T500 goes back to sleep automatically, and sometimes repeatedly , right after wakeup. Basically, this happens after I put the system to sleep by either closing the lid or pressing the sleep button. Then when I bring it out of sleep it come up to the login page and then after a few seconds (sometimes just 1 sec) goes back to sleep. When I wake it up again everything is fine. This means that most of the time I have to wake it up twice before it is up. In some cases it keeps going back to sleep for 5-6 times and after longer periods of time (in mid keystroke or mouse movement) After I reboot the system, it goes back to the 2-sleep 2-wake up situation. this is a new installation of Windows 7 (plus all the updates). The sleep event timers are all ok (in the range of 10 minutes or longer), so it cannot be a timer issue. I checked the event log and the event that causes sleep seems to be "Sleep Reason: application API" I have run out of ideas and tried everything... please help :).
