I am having the same problems with 2 computers running Windows 7 Premium and Professional with Service Pack 1 and Internet Explorer 9 RTM installed. The two gadgets I have issues with are Calendar and Weather Bug. Both have a white border around the gadget. They do not crash, just don't display properly. I like the speed of IE9 compared to IE8 so am just putting up with the problem. IE9 is almost as fast as Google's Chrome.

I suspect that this is an IE issue. Please temporary disable antivirus and firewall then check the result. If the issue still occurs, reset IE to default settings.
