Hello. Recently many computers on our network are unable to search for new updates. We keep getting error code 8024402F and it says "Windows Update encountered an unknown error." We use Trend Micro Antivirus 7 (SP 1) and do not have the Firewall enabled. I've already tried disabling it, as well as adding the Windows Update URL's to the URL Filter, but no change. I sent a ping to update.microsoft.com and they all timed out, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. I am not quite sure how to handle this since it seems to be a network wide problem. If anyone could provide useful insight, it would be a great help.

I have tried the solutions on both pages, but the same error still appears. No, just manually from Windows Update.

I figured out the issue. It seems SonicWall URL filtering was blocking one of the Windows Update URL's. I went through the entire list and found which one it was and allowed it. Thanks for helping!
