Windows corruption in memory
explorer.exe seems to corrupt in-memory easily. Running Win 7 Ultimate, and on a Domain. Occasionally I may hang trying to access a network resource (that isn't the problem). If I close the Windows Explorer window where the hang is occurring, something derails inside Windows. From that point on, clicking "Computer" from the Start menu does nothing, (or sometimes the Computer window comes up, but won't populate with anything...just an empty frame). Some of the Icons on my desktop will more-or-less randomly vanish (not the filenames, just the icon graphic). And it stays that way until I reboot. So something in Windows is over-writing its memory region when I close a Windows Explorer window while it's trying and failing to access a network resource. Am a .NET software developer, so response can be fairly technical.

Hi, This issue can be caused by third party program. I suggest testing it in Clean Boot mode first. If it persists, try following tool to remove third party extension: ShellExView: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.zip hope it helps.Vivian Xing - MSFT

If you want to test your ram use memtest .Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)!
