Windows cannot connect to the Internet using HTTP, HTTPS, or FTP. __This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer.__
I recently installed the version of Norton, after that I was unable to use the internet, I thought it was the firewall settings in Norton. After messing with it for 30 minutes I gave up and unistalled Norton. I have turned off the firewall, I have reset the default settings. Below is the message that I am receiving when I run a diagnostic. A crazy thing is that I can connect to the internet when I am signed on as a guess to that same computer. Please help me!Windows cannot connect to the Internet using HTTP, HTTPS, or FTP.This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer.Check the firewall settings for the HTTP port (80), HTTPS port (443) and FTP port (21).1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi rhonda9937, 1. Which web browser are you using to connect to the internet? It is not recommended to keep the Windows firewall disabled on the computer. This would happen if the ports are not opened in the Windows firewall. I would suggest that you open the required ports in the Windows firewall and check if it works. How to manually open ports in Internet Connection Firewall in Windows XPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/308127Troubleshooting Windows Firewall settings in Windows XP Service Pack 2 for advanced usershttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/875357 Hope this helps!Halima S - Microsoft Support.Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
