Windows boots to a black screen with Windows 7 Ultimate at the bottom with power and ease of access buttons
I'm running widows 7 x64 and today after it ran a disk check, it restarted and booted to a black screen with the windows logo, power, and ease of access buttons at the bottom of the screen. I cannot access the OS. Both buttons work but there are no other options. On a related note, whenever I start my computer, it will bsod with a memory fault, and i will have to turn it off for a minute then turn it back on for it to work (this has worked for a few weeks until now) There have been no recent hardware changes or newly installed software. Again, I can NOT enter the OS. I can however enter a command prompt through the system recovery menu

Hi,Have you tested if you can log on your machine after inputting your password on the black screen? Have you tried to boot your machine in Safe mode with Networking? If not , try it first. Once you can boot your machine in the safe mode with networking, it’s better to upload your Minidump log to your public folder in the SkyDrive for analyzing. Please don't contain any personal information in it. Meanwhile, you can try to create a new account to test.If you can’t boot your machine in safe mode either, it’s better to boot your machine in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), then do system restore. In addition, you can run the Windows memory diagnostic tool to determine if it is the criminal.Good luck! ----------------------John

Safemode yields the same results. I dont believe its a memory error, but I dont know how to access the results from the memory diagnostic tool outside the os.

Have you tried to input your password and press Enter when you reach to the the black screen with the windows logo, power, and ease of access buttons? If you can’t boot your machine in safe mode either, it’s better to boot your machine in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), you can access WinRE using F8 at the boot menu, select Repair Your Computer to start WinRE. Then you can run the Windows memory diagnostic tool to determine if it is the criminal. In addition, you can choose system restore to roll back the system before this issue happened. If system restore does not work either, it's better to try Startup repair.Good luck! John

I ran the memory diagnostic tool and system restore and both did absolutely nothing. How do I access the results from the memory diagnostic?

Right now, it's better to run Startup repair to troubleshoot your trouble. Please boot your machine in the WinRE, then choose "Startup repair" option to repair the computer. After that, reboot the computer to test. Good luck!John
