Windows boot loader will not launch the kernel if RAM timing parameters changed.
When I change the CAS latency from 7 to 8, which is where it should be, the boot loader for Windows complains and will not launch the kernel. If I switch the BIOS setting back to CAS 7, it boots fine. However, the system is not completely stable on CAS 7 and when under heavy memory usage loads (Matlab), applications begin to crash. I have attempted to change RAM as well to no avail. It would seem as though the Windows boot loader is only content with the settings used during the initial Windows installation. I do not want to reformat. How to I get the Windows boot loader to ignore past settings? How does it even know that a memory configuration change has occured? Isn't that supposed to be outside of the software scope. Thanks, --Eric WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. Actually, if he has the same problem i do, he won't be able to get to the startup repair screen, as he will get a BSOD before any menu shows after inserting the windows 7 DVD.
