Windows boot animation lag
I already posted this in the in the windows vista>getting ready for windows 7 forum and they asked me to send it over here because it was a technical issue. Well my problem is that the booting animation kind of lags when all the light are coming together i know that it supposed to play flawlessly but mine doesn't. My computer model is a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5895. By the way i am running the windows 7 RC the newest up to date. Here's a video i recorded of my Laptop booting----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKp9VLy9L5A

Assuming you are running the officially authorized Windows 7 RC1 Build 7100, visit the Windows Update web site and click on Check for updates.Hopefully, an updated Windows 7 video adapter driver will be available.Carey Frisch

I've had that happen with USB peripherals plugged during the boot. Disconnect any USB device youreasonably can and see if the problem goes away. This isn't really a solution, it's more of a troubleshooting technique.

I already tried both of the things in updates it says that it's up to date and there no USB peripherals plugged during the boot how can i send this problem to some one from Microsoft.

At this point in the animation one of your driversmaynot loading as it should. Try checking the event viewer for errors.

Go to start and type in the search box, record steps to reproduce a problem, then launch the prog and go from there.Hope this helps.Good Luck.P.S. As Mr Seven mentioned take a look at event viwer for errors.

Two way to try and trouble shoot this, #1 by booting in to safe mode will only load the critical drivers and #2 by opening system configuration (msconfig.exe) and making it so only windows and critical drivers load at start up leaving out any third party drivers you may have from programs you installed.

I alredy booted in to safe mode i even did a boot log and i only started the main drives and still the image lags i think it has something to do with winows 7 cause i already installed in another laptop and the animation played fine and in event viewer every thing looks normal.Theres no alert or warning about any drivers not loading.

I saw the video and it hesitates very breifly. Rather than losing hair over it maybe just try and use it, hopefully it won't give you to much trouble in the future but itfor now it does not seem to be criticle.

Higher priority is given to actually loading Windows than to playing the animation. If it has to sacrifice the animation to boot Windows as fast as possible, I'm glad that it does.Microsoft Engingeering Windows 7 blog actually talked about this, it's a good (long) article, worth reading though, as are most of the E7 blog topics. Very informative and insightful.

Something that could speed the boot process by a few milliseconds:Open your System Configuration: Control Panel\Administrative Tools\System ConfigurationOn the boot tab select "no gui boot" and select "make all boot settings permenant" and thenhit OK.There will be no animnation on startup and it may load slightly faster.

In expediting start-up process, I have found that as well as limiting unnecessary items in Run->Msconfig; another thing to do is to occasionally delete all .PF files in \Windows\Prefetch. Be careful to only delete the .PF format items there. There are a maximum 129 of them. This is 1 more than 128 which makes more sense to a nerd.
