Windows activation was active and no longer is???
I've recently installed the windows 64 bit and it was activated and i installed all the latest updates and everything was running fine. Now less than 2 weeks later i've been getting messages that it isn't genuine.. which it actually is. Any idea what's caused it?

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 ) Once saved, run the tool. Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report. To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response. - **in your own thread**, please Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker! http://www.microsoft.com/howtotell/content.aspx?pg=coa Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

I'm not sure if this will help any also, but when I originally installed windows I exported the list of services so I'd have something to compare to if problems happened.. The app information started (when before it wasn't ) and won't let me stop. the Encrypting file sys started (when before it wasn't) and won't let me stop. and as you know the software protection service problem. Like i said not sure if it matters. :)

The best thing to start with is probably a basic chkdsdsk and sfc..... running CHKDSK and SFC type in the Search box CMD.EXE right-click on the only file that is found Select Run as Administrator - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up At the Command prompt, type CHKDSK C: /R and hit the Enter key You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot. The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient! After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC SFC -System File Checker - Instructions Click on the Start button type in the Search box CMD.EXE right-click on the only file that is found Select Run as Administrator - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up At the Command prompt, type SFC /SCANNOW and hit the Enter key Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot. run another MGADiag report, and post the results. Sorry - I must have missed the response earlier! The 0022 error is 'access denied' - often associated with a disk error, which is why I asked you to run the CHKDSK/SFC pairing. The System Error 2 you got attempting to start the service implies that the system can't actually find a file - the usual file referenced here is sppsvc.exe, so lets check that the file exists in all its positions. please open an elevated command prompt, and run the following command. DIR C:\Windows\sppsvc.* /S post the results - it'll take a while so be patient Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth
