Since Windows XP uses an entirely different boot system than Windows 7 does, I'd suggest posting this in a Windows XP forum rather than a Windows 7 forum."Crusnik2112" wrote in message news:Email removed for privacy...I have a home computer that has windows Xp installed as well as Windows 2000, I get the dual boot menu upon startup, I used an xp upgrade upon for installation many years ago....I still get two different operating systems however both of which I could start up and load to.....is there any way I can delete windows 2000 and just keep xp, there is no other partitons or anything.

Assuming you have the needed XP License, you can very carefullytry the following:Boot into WinXP Identify and record which drive letter XP says your Windows 2000 OS is on and backupALL needed data. [If you can't find your Windows 2000 drive from within XP, then you will need to boot Win2k and then back the data up from within the Win2k OS itself]Use this article to open and print off the boot.ini file: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022 After printing the boot.ini file, follow the steps in the above mentioned article to remove the unwanted Win2k boot option and reboot.Verify that the unwanted Win2k option is gone. Login to WinXP Start->Control Panel->Switch_to_Classic_View->Administrative Tools Computer Management Click on Disk Management From within WinXP, very carefully attempt to locate the Windows 2000 drive that was identified in Step#2.If you are 100% sure you have found your Windows 2000 drive letter, then right click on the partition that contains the Win2k drive letter and select the Format Option to reclaim the space used by Win2k so you can use it in WinXP. !!!Warning this step will erase all data on the selected partition!!!Please be advised that this is an extremely dangerous process and it should only be attempted if you are highly confident in your abilties. If you are the least bit weary of any part of this process, consider taking your computer to a local technician for service.Warning:Absolutely no warranty express or implied comes with this post.
