Windows XP won't find wireless broadband device anymore after reinstalling. Do I need some updates (and which updates) or what?
I changed to wireless internet connection a few months ago (internet stick, Nokia cs-15). At that time I was running Windows XP only, and had no problem with the internet connection. A bit later I had to format the hard drive and reinstall XP. After formatting the drive, XP won't find the internet stick anymore. Or actually it can find the stick as USB memory stick, and lets install the program it uses to make the connection (Nokia Internet Modem). There it all ends. The program doesn't recognize the internet stick as it should, or actually it doesn't regocnize it as anything. When I switched to using mobile broadband only, there were no problems. I did not have to download anything from anywhere, everything was on the stick. It kind of installed itself, no need for WIndows installer or such. The stick also works perfectly on Linux Mint (which I installed on the same computer, at the side of XP). I have tried downloading and installing some hotfix-updates and even service pack 3, but nothing seems to work. And of course, because I can't get online with the XP, XP can't update automatically. Any ideas, what updates I need to install? Or do I need to do something else with this problem? Thanks. Mikko2 people need an answerI do too
