Requirement: Backup attached PSTs using Netbackup for remote clients using DeDupe technology Windows 7 ultimate Office 2007 sp2 Status backup successful no issues Windows xp sp2 & sp3 Office 2007 sp2 Cannot backup because (The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. ) Is there any patch available with Microsoft or is this limitations with windows xp . It seems XP is incapable with SP3 to handle access to open file. Have any one faced this kind of issues earlier Cheers Vaibhav Panchal Cheers Vaibhav

Hi, As a suggestion, just try to start Office with Safe Mode to check how it works: · On the Microsoft Windows Start menu: 1. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then point to Microsoft Office. 2. Press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the name of the Microsoft Office program that you want to run. · In the Command Prompt window: At the command prompt, use the /safe option when you start the program. Meanwhile, as this is an Office issue, I also suggest you post at Office forum for further help: Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Category Alex ZhaoPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi Alex Thanx for revert I've been disappointed by Microsoft forum especially by moderators. Reason behind this is without intimation my thread was marked as answer . This is ridiculous and unexpected behavior by Software Giant. Symantec is better than Microsoft in this manner. Cheers Vaibhav
