"ralph1266" wrote> Windows XP slow to start up That's a statement - not a question!I assume that you mean that it's slowed down, and you want to sped it up again. Did it slow down gradually? - or suddenly? If gradually, it's probably because you have too many things loading at startup - use MSCONFIG to identify them, and then set the defaults, in each program, to prevent the the ones that aren't essential from loading. If suddenly, then you may have either an infection, or a bad driver.download, install, and update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - from www.malwarebytes.org - then run it and delete EVERYTHING it finds.see if that helpsCheck in Event Viewer to see if there are problems with your boot process. Post back your results, and we can go from there. -- Noel Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC

Windows XP slow to start upyou may simply have too many programs starting up with the desktopand perhaps you don't have enough memory installed as well.what you might try to do is to boot into safe mode and see if the computers performance is better in that mode.if so, then i would begin the troubleshooting by initiating a clean boot.db`...> DatabaseBen, Retired Professional - Systems Analyst - Database Developer - Accountancy - Veteran of the Armed Forces - @Hotmail.com "share the nirvana mann" - dbZen ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > >
