I have been issued a dell computer for use with my second grade class. Unfortunately, it is protected by an administrative password that my principal cannot remember. Therefore, I can only log on as a student. Students cannot install software. Please help if anyone has a suggestion. Thanks Teacher1953aIf (a) the computer is not connected to the school's network and (b) account to which you would like to gain access is not the built-in account named "Administrator," then access the built-in Administrator account as follows:If Windows XP Pro is installed, then at the Welcome screen (with all users logged out), press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice. The classic Windows logon dialog box will appear. Select Administrator from the drop down list (or type in Administrator. The default password is blank (i.e., no password). If Windows XP Home is installed, restart the computer in Safe Mode (this will work for XP Pro as well) to access the built-in Administrator account. To restart in Safe Mode, reboot the computer and repeatedly tap the F8 key as soon as the computer restarts (before Windows starts). If the built-in Administrator account is the one with the forgotten password (and a blank password doesn't work), then Google for a solution. Microsoft's rules do not permit discussing how to bypass password protection in this forum. If the computer is connected to the school's network, talk to the network administrator.
