Windows XP on Toshiba laptop must be shut-down twice to actually end operation
Operation is also very slow, despite defrag, Disk cleanup, performing actions suggested by PC Pitstop review. Have also just installed Explorer 8, but double-shutdown problems predated this installation.2 people need an answerI do too

Hi Will,I'm willing to help. When you say that you have to shut down the computer twice, do you literally mean shutting down the system once, turning it back on, shutting it down the second time, and turning it back on again? When did this problem start? What was the last thing you did before this problem happened?

Hi,I am experiencing the same problem on a Toshiba Tecra S11 notebook computer running Windows XP Pro. When I select Shutdown -> Turn off, nothing happens (windows continues as if nothing happened) even if I wait for 30 seconds. And there are no 'End Program' message boxes showing up either. But if I select Shutdown -> Turn off a second time, then windows shuts down as it should.Any ideas why windows xp would be doing this? Thanks,Mark
