Windows XP locks up on start-up
My Windows XP locks up on start-up witht he blue status bar on the windows screen freezes. I can get it started in safe mode but don't know how to check the problem. My guess is that I added an Age of Empires II game to the windows\Microsoftgames file and it has caused some problems with the software. When I tried logging in in safe mode with command prompt, it locked up with the following last line of start-up multi(0)dick(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\System2\DRIVERS\agp440.sys. I've also been able to get the windows login in prompt in safe mode but after that I got the "blue Screen" with the following technical information: ***STOP: 0x0000000C,0x000000FF,0x00000000,0x804E8A2B). I've also received another message on a blue screen: STOP: c000021a Unknown Hard Error. At this point I'd like to get the software off from the c: prompt but don't know how to do that in safe mode. Also, I have a lot of pictures and etc. that I'd like to save to my external hard drive back up if I need to reload windows. Thanks for any help!!!1 person needs an answerI do too

When you install any software, if the installation is not proper or because of some other reasons sometimes, Window refuses to boot after restart. Windows can be booted in safe mode in such circumstances, but the installer will not work. When yo reboot in safe mode, you need to create a registry entry for Windows installer to work for install. NB: If you use the registry editor incorrectly, you might cause serious problems that might require you to reinstall your operating system. Use the registry editor at your own risk. Keep a backup of registry before editing. To create a Registry entry, open command prompt ( Run->Cmd). Type the following command in the Window- REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer/VE/TREG_SZ/F/D %Service% This issue may also be caused by some roughe programs. Use MSConfig to identify which application is causing the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310560 If this post helps to resolve your issue, Please click the Mark as Answered check mark on this page it helps others who need quick access to answers THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK
