Windows XP in constant reboot cycle...cant get it to stop! please help!
I recently restarted my computer (windows xp) after getting rid of some viruses. When it was rebooting it automatically went to the safe mode menu screen, and no matter which option i select (start in safe mode, start windows normally, etc.) it runs for a bit and then a blue screen with white writing pops up for a fraction of a second and it begins the reboot cycle all over again and it wont stop. i ran system recovery once and it worked but i was updating with windows update again, i had to restart the computer and the cycle i just described happened again...how can i fix this?

Hi,· Now after the system recovery, are you able to boot into safe mode?· What is the update that you have installed on the system? Let us know the Kb number of the update. Step 1:If you are able to boot to the safe mode, then I would suggest you to disable automatic restart and let us know the error message that you encounter in the Blue screen, if not follow step 2.a. Click Start, and then right-click My Computer.b. Click Properties.c. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.d. Under System failure, click to clear the Automatically restart check box.e. Click OK, and then click OK. Step 2:I would suggest you to do a system restore and check whether you are able to boot to the system normally. I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in the article given below. How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from startinghttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545 Step 3:I would suggest you to run the ‘fixboot’ command from the Recovery console and check whether the issue is resolved. Follow the steps mentioned in the article given below.Description of the Windows XP Recovery Console for advanced usershttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058 Thank you and Regards.
