Windows XP cannot see shared files and folders on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system
I have wireless home network. When I had Windows 7 Home premium 32-bit on my desktop - my XP laptop was able to share files and folders. Today I upgraded my desktop to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Now - my Windows 7 desktop can access files on my XP laptop - HOWEVER - I was no longer able to access any shared files and folders on the Windows 7 desktop. I verified that the Workgroup name matches. And on the XP - when I go to Add Network Place wizard and do a Browse. When I select Microsoft Windows Network and Workgroup - I see my desktop listed. But - when I try to select it - the OK button remains grayed out. I would greatly appreciate your assistance on this.1 person got this answerI do too

Any 3rd party firewalls in play? Norton for example? Is Network Discovery turned on in the Windows 7 box? Also when you open Network and Sharing Center on the Windows 7 Box is the local network classified as Home (or Work) and not Public.-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

Thanks for your help - but I just discovered the problem. In Advanced Sharing Settings I forgot to select Turn Off Password Protected Sharing. The second I did select it - all files and folders that I have set to share on the Windows 7 system became available. Thanks for your help, anyhow.
