Windows XP Shutdown. No bluescreens, nothing. It justs shutsdown the Windows XP SP3 with no warning. At least twice in two hours for last two days now.
I have completely described the scenario below on what happened. Please help. I have been in technology fields for last 22 years that too with Microsoft Products since 1988, so you can understand my frustation with these issues about Windows.Information:OS: Windows XP SP3Update: Everyday - Custom patch installation but always on all high-priority updates first and during weekends lower ones, otherwise i will end up only installing patches :-)Softwares on my computer: Office 2007 Professional, Expression Studio 3, Visual Studio 8 SP1, SQL Server 2005 SP2, IE 8, FireFox, Chrome.1) Three weeks ago, i suspected that there was a malware based on the IE 8 behaviour, meaning running very slow, taking up too much processor time etc. and finally one of website got hacked with javascript injection, so i figured something is going wrong. While rebooting, got a message (like old VB Message box) that indicated that i have some security software problem, click OK to proceed. This is during reboot, later i learned that this actually installed something.2) Rebuild the machine - F11 - Since the machine is HP, used F11 to rebuild the machine where it formats the whole machine and brings back to original factory settings.3) Disconnected the internet, installed whatever i needed. Comast is asking its users to install the Norton Symantec instead of McAfee so installed that one as well, ran a full check etc. nothing found. This did not allowed me to install the Security essential, if you want to know. System was running fine for one week.4) Noticed the same problems last week. Same things happening, first blammed at Norton, then started in safe mode. Removed the Norton, could not bring back my system again. It just doesn't do anything or goes in to some kind of loop i think. So gave up on it.5) Rebuild again using F11 - Original factory setting. This time, released the comcast IP as well since i suspected someone likes my IP :-) Now instead of Norton I installed Security essential first and installed Windows Malicious Malware Removal tool. That tool is crashing as it comes to the end. Same issues again. IE 8 running slow....etc..tired of this damn thing.6) Rebuild again with nothing in between comcast and computer (Removed that Vonage thing from the middle). Disconnected until everything is scanned etc. All external hard drives and everything. This time i have installed Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 2010, hoping this will resolve something that Norton didn't and plus it allows Security essential side by side.6) Worked fine for some time, and started crashing again, IE 8 giving me too many issues. One thing i found common in all above scenario is that it keeps asking me in IE 8 to install Adobe Latest Player - even though i have that downloaded from the adobe website separately. Something look nasty here to me, not sure though. Firefox or Chrome doesn't do that, they work fine, but i think since they wok fine but causing the malware to flow and not asking the user to install the plug-in. 7) So everything is working fine alright. This time i found that i can't access any anti-virus website except Kaspersky. All other websites like Symantec, McAfee, Avast or you name it are not accesible. They come back with a message that says: This type of request is not served. Kaspersky i could see, but no style sheet nothing, at least the content came and it let me download the trial version.8) Ok. Finally Kaspersky detected the virus and removed. Same thing Security essential did as well. But now i got it again. Windows XP crashing anytime, i just can't rely on it anymore and not sure if someone is stealing my passwords.9) Just for more information, i uninstalled security essential as somewhere i read that having multiple anti-virus causes this scenario. No luck, still has same issues. This time i am not going to rebuild, just toss the windows in the Garbage and my career of 22 years to switch to something better, although i know there won't be any. But atleast moving away from computer for a while.Help. BhaktaVatsal1 person needs an answerI do too

Trying on Kaspersky forums as well, with no luck. Kaspersky support does not thing this is related to the product. No indication of hardware failure either as confirmed through the harddisk surface check and other general checks on the computer. Drivers are ok etc. as well.Anything else?BhaktaVatsal
