Windows XP Security Centre - Antivirus set to ON when no antivirus program active
AVG free has been removed, but then a system restore carried out to a point where AVG was still active. Now windows still believes that AVG is there even though it is not. AVG Remover tool has been run to eliminate all traces of AVG.How can I get Windows to realise there is no antivirus protection?1 person needs an answerI do too

I had the same problem,Just do this pres F8 and start Rebooting your Computer is working just perfect.

Undo the Restore operation that was done. Open System Restore and see if that option is still available.If no joy, then try to rebuild Windows Mangement Instrumentation (WMI) - Repairing and re-registering the WMIYou should run the WMI Diagnosis Utility -- Version 2.0 first to determine if the WMI needs to be rebuilt.Instructions for it's use are in the WMIDiag_ReadMe.doc that is included with the download.If the WMI does need to be rebuilt, use the steps described under For Windows XP Service Pack 2 on the Repairing and re-registering WMI page.MowGreen Windows Expert IT Pro - Consumer Security
