Windows XP Professional 64 bit
Hi!I use XP prof 64 bit , and I have recently met some problems with system performance. System goes very slow during startup, after login etc. I used process explorer to investigate this, and I saw that system utilizes high CPU power, average around 50 %, and that is caused by high ratio of interruptions. It occurs when Windows reads or writes something on HD. At early beginning I thought there were some bad sectors but I run chkdsk /R on command prompt in system recovery console and there is no bs. I also checked disk with SeagateTools for Dos and there is no error too( I have Seagate SATA2 HD ). Result of SMART test is shown below:HD Tune: ST3320620AS Health ID Current Worst ThresholdData Status (01) Raw Read Error Rate 116 93 6 103756874 Ok (03) Spin Up Time 98 95 0 0 Ok (04) Start/Stop Count 99 99 20 2024 Ok (05) Reallocated Sector Count 100 100 36 0 Ok (07) Seek Error Rate 84 60 30 240363950 Ok (09) Power On Hours Count 92 92 0 7510 Ok (0A) Spin Retry Count 100 100 97 0 Ok (0C) Power Cycle Count 99 99 20 2042 Ok (BB) (unknown attribute) 99 99 0 1 Ok (BD) (unknown attribute) 100 100 0 0 Ok (BE) Airflow Temperature 62 48 45 639959078 Ok (C2) Temperature 38 52 0 38 Ok (C3) Hardware ECC Recovered 61 54 0 165601702 Ok (C5) Current Pending Sector 100 100 0 0 Ok (C6) Offline Uncorrectable 100 100 0 0 Ok (C7) Ultra DMA CRC Error Count 200 199 0 34 Ok (C8) Write Error Rate 100 253 0 0 Ok (CA) TA Counter Increased 100 253 0 0 Ok Power On Time : 7510 Health Status : OkI have found something interesting - just after I removed disk controller from hardware manager and reboot the system, everything was ok, but after 2 , 3 hours problem came back.I have no idea what is going on... I suppose some disk problem can be a reason, but I am not sure, so please help...Best regardsS.1 person needs an answerI do too

Hard drive thrashing is often due to malware. So, have you ruled out that your computer does not have malware?Do you have Firewall/antivirus? Which one? What is the maker/model of computer? Is it desktop, laptop or Netbook?*SAVE YOUR DATA **DO NOT DO A SYSTEM RECOVERY UNLESS YOU KNOW THE RISKS* [most people here have screwed up system]*Make sure you have System Recovery CDs*One way to resolve your problem would be to go back 15 days old System Restore POINT (not System Recovery).Waiting for more info....

I have already burned most importance data on DVDs, so data lost is not a main problem. I use Avira AntiVir Personal and standard XP firewall due to the problem of good and working one for 64 bit system... I gain access to network via router with working one... but to be honest I havent seen any strange traffic, and full antivir scan didnt find anything.I assembled this PC one year ago, it has athlon XP dual core processor, and gigabyte motherboard. Ill try to restore system to the 15 days older state and write what will be going and them make next post.thanksS.System Restore Point failed, it showed info that PC state has not been changed since last time ;/Now I am running Malwarebytes tool, but scanning may take some time due to disc speed.
