Windows XP Pro disconnects at random from a Windows 7 Pro Server
I recently installed a Windows 7 Pro machine in a small office to act as a file server. The customer also bought all new work stations (6 total). Durring the install I had to leave 2 of his old XP Pro worsktations connected to the new Windows 7 Pro Server while waiting on PCI-E parralel ports to arrive for their older printers. I almost instantly had a Network disconnect on the 2 XP Pro machines when I was doing Network backup images of the ther Windows 7 machines with the Windows 7 backup to the Windows 7 Pro Server. I quickly figured out that rebooting the Windows 7 Pro Server, restored the XP Pro machines connections. I chaulked it up to a minor glitch and moved on doing one Win 7 backup to the Win7 server at a time. This seemed to not disconnect the XP machines. The next morning I got a call that the XP machines were disconnected again. I had th office manager reboot the Win7Pro Server and all was fine for about an hour, then BOOM, disconnected again. Well since I was going to replace the 2 XP machines, I did and set them to a network shared printer. Problem solved Right?. - NOT -. I have alot of small offices with 3 or 4 computers , using XP Pro machines as Servers who want to upgrade. Does any one have a solution for this problem? All the post I read just go on and on with no resolution. Any Help will be appreciated, Thanks.Chuck Pearson
