Windows XP Crashes Randomly
Windows XP Pro (version 2002, service pack 3) installed at factory on Dell Vostro 1510, new 1.5 years ago, begin freezing at random about 2 weeks ago, cannot see any rhyme to freezing up but usually happens when I leave keyboard idle for a minute or 2, I usually have outlook 2007 open, quickbooks open, explorer 8 open, have always had updates turned on, made sure all updates downloded and installed, using AVG free antivirus 8.5.445 updated and working, have went to forums and I am not smart enough to find and match comments with this problem, have always used explorer (now updated to 8.0.6001.18792) it has a glitch now also (related?????), when I use it to search for typed in words as in "windows xp freeze" it will not search, says diagnose connection, if I open new tab and clik a favourite link, it goes to it as normal. If I go to, start, settings, control panel, administrative tools, event veiwer, I am not smart enough to make heads or tails of such, can you help? I just want to be able to use without crashes. Thanks!1 person needs an answerI do too

Thanks! This looks suspiciously like malware - possibly a rogue screensaver amongst other things. Try downloading.installing, updating, and running a full system scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware -www.malwarebytes.org - see what it reports and removes. -- Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth
