Windows XP - AVG Firewall Browsing Network shares and occasionally being blocked because of uknown UDP Outbound Traffic from Local to Remote various ports... Repeatedly enters FilterDevice in the Firewall log
Various Ports involved:Local: 257 to Remote: 513Local: 513 to Remote: 6146I've also seen port 259 and a couple others..The firewall settings are working for various other users, but appear to not like something in my configuration.Running Windows XP Pro SP3 as a member of a domainWhen it blocks the traffic they are always headed to a remote IP of a domain controller within my lan. I've uninstalled plenty of applications, and made sure I have no services for unix/linux installed. For a bit I figured it may have something to deal with security certificates because my computer and user accounts are setup with our local certificate authority.. However, I doubt that's related..I also know that my domain isn't setup as tight as we would like it because we had to lower some of the security settings for old Windows 98 and AS/400 systems. So I did remember an old reg key that was possibly not helping:Location: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanworkstation \parameters Key: enablesecuritysignature Original Value: 0 New Value: 1 That changed seemed to help but then after another reboot it started popping up again..1 person got this answerI do too

Hello Amaranthe, Try to boot your system into Safe mode: Restart your computer if it is powered on. Press and hold F8 key after your computer initially powers on. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu (or hear a beep) you can stop. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter. You should see drivers loading, this may take a few moments. You should then be at the Welcome Screen. Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges. Now you should download (free) MalwareBytes from here: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol install, update then do a scan of your system in safe mode, to make sure it is indeed clean! Once the scan is done delete anything it finds. Then simply reboot your PC to see if your issue has been resolved!Hope this helps you. Let us know either way. Make it a great day! The C. >Seriously, aMalwarebytes plug???? I'm talking about using AVG AntiVirus/Firewall.-----------------------Keith >I'll see what help I can get on the 'Domain' section. I just figured it seemed more like a Security issue then specific to a Domain issue.
